For my Unholy Death Knight, I went with an Orc simply for the increased Pet Damage. I’ve never really played much with Unholy, having preferred Blood all this time (and only recently started a BE Frost DK which I’m loving levelling) so this is a bit of a new experience for me.
Also, yes, all my characters’ names begin with “Kat” – just always has been that way. I generally randomize the name and whack Kat or Kata on the beginning of it and call it a day. Gotten some nice names that way, but I digress.
So, I set up my bars, auto loot, drag out Invincible and organize all the things. Then, of course, I’ve got my talents here:
A couple of the Talents – Sludge Belcher and Dark Arbiter – aren’t in yet, which is sad as they looked interesting – summoning an Abomination and Val’kyr would be awesome. But, as they’re not in I’ve elected to go with other talents. I’ve chosen All Will Serve, Pestilent Pustules, Clawing Shadows, Debilitating Infestation, Spell Eater, Necrosis, and Defile.
I have to admit, I’m not that keen on the whole pustules and festerings and all this other stuff. Ick!
Anyway, I head to the Duke and pick my artifact – the Unholy Artifact is a two handed sword named Apocalypse. This time, I’m directed to Manor Mistmantle to discover all I can about this amazing weapon that is currently in the hands of the Dark Riders of Deadwind Pass.
There’s a portal straight to Karazhan, so I take that and fly to Manor Mistmantle. I get there and there’s a random guy sitting there that I need to convince to help. There’s a dialogue issue where the Holy Priest, Revil Kost, calls me a warlock. I may summon the undead but pfft!
I follow the priest, murder the Dark Riders following us, and get directed to raise the dead and speak with them.
After raising the dead and being directed to the catacombs under Karazhan I have a wall of spirits to get past. There looks to be two ways I can do this – either through Anti Magic Shield, or using my ghoul and a talent, Death’s Flight. As I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it through with AMS, I use Death’s Flight which is a reverse Death Grip. I fly through to my Ghoul and I’m pretty sure I made the right choice as one tick of the wall of spirits did 25k damage to me, and the AMS only could absorb 86k damage.
So I kill more things (the story of a DK’s life… I read once that DKs start to end up in great pain if they don’t kill something at least once a day – source). Get the Lich King’s boon, and head back to Acherus, check. As I run to speak to Highlord Darion Mograine, Lady Alistra is all proud of me and stuff. Get the title, pick your starting quest area, and done! (One thing to note – Siouxsie the Banshee actually has Banshee voice files. I’m not sure if she does in live. I shall have to check!)
My overall impressions of Unholy Death Knights is that they’re pretty well complete. There’s a few things here and there that need to be tweaked, such as Blood’s GCD issue, but Unholy and Frost feel pretty polished. I’m really looking forward to spending some time with my DKs once Legion goes live!
