Ok, and here’s tonight’s offering.
Susannah held Edmund’s hands in hers, staring at him with slavish devotion. She said the right words where appropriate, and slipped the platinum and diamond wedding band on his finger before sealing her promise to be with him forever with a kiss. She fought the giggle afterwards that welled up in her throat thinking “If everything works out, it really will be forever!” After all, Edmund had the same contract she did – do a good job, and be a good little minion of The Banker like Mr Stewn.
Both of them had agreed to do their best for Hell, in the hopes that they would be able to remain together once they achieved minion status.
“May I present to you, Mr and Mrs Huntington!” Cheers erupted from the crowd as Susannah and Edmund made their way down the red carpet to where the photographer sat, taking many pictures of the happy couple. Susannah glowed in her blindingly white Vera Wang wedding gown, and Edmund was dapper in his tuxedo with its dark green accents.
“Mr and Mrs Huntington. Can we please have a few words from you?” Susannah and Edmund turned to a reporter who had arrived to cover the ‘wedding of the century’.
“Sure.” Susannah said, smiling lovingly at her new husband. He leaned down and kissed the tip of her nose, wrapping his arm around her waist. They sat there and chatted amiably with the reporter for a few moments before being tapped on the shoulder – it was time to disappear for pictures before heading to the reception.
Later that night, after the cake had been cut, the speeches given and the traditional garter and bouquet toss, Susannah found herself ensconced in bed with her husband after having made love with him for the very first time. She was just drifting off to sleep when the smell of sulphur woke both her and Edmund up.
“The happy couple.” The Banker said, stumping forward. “Congratulations.” He nodded his head at them, while Susannah struggled to keep herself covered.
“Thank you. I don’t remember a meeting with you?” Edmund stated smoothly. He was always better at dealing with The Banker than Susannah was.
“I thought I would come and say my congratulations, and give you both the next series of steps.” The imp jumped up on the bed and settled himself at its foot, looking from Edmund to Susannah and back again. “Your charmed life is starting to play out in the press, so let’s keep that going. I’m going to start using Aislin a bit more, get her to seduce a publicist or two. I could use a few more on my roster.” He mused. “We’ll get your names out there in the city, and as your wealth grows, so will your fame. Next month I have a big party booked in New York for the two of you. I had to pull a lot of strings, but you’ll be attending the Tony Awards as well. This is the chance to start getting the two of you hobnobbing with the more elite and rich and famous. There’ll be plenty of investment opportunities and discussions. While you’re there, you need to try and trap some of those glittering souls into dealing with Stewn. He’s got the ability to suck them in further.” The Banker looked between the two of them.
“Enjoy the honeymoon!” The imp poofed, the stench of sulphur still heavy in the air.
